Blur
16×20 | Multimedia
Life moves quickly.
We rush from one obligation to the next, checking boxes, meeting deadlines, crossing paths with countless people each day. We wave, we smile, we keep moving. Yet somewhere in the constant motion, we begin to lose sight of one another. People become little more than passing blurs.
This piece was born from reflecting on that relentless pace. Each colorful vertical form represents a life moving through the same crowded space—individual stories, hopes, struggles, and dreams intersecting for only a moment before disappearing into the rush.
Looking at it now, years after I first painted it, I see something I didn't fully recognize then. Even in the midst of all that movement, every person carries their own light. It reminds me that behind every blur is a human being longing to be seen.
Perhaps Blur is an invitation to slow down.
To notice.
To make eye contact.
To remember that the people we hurry past each day are far more than part of the background of our lives.
